My review
I consider myself to be a V.E. Schwab superfan, but next to the people who have been waiting for Victorious since Vicious came out fifteen years ago (!), I’m nothing. I came into my fandom after the second book, Vengeful, had already been published, so I kept the first two waiting on my TBR until the trilogy was complete and I could read all of them straight through. What a phenomenal decision that was, my friends.
I wholeheartedly recommend these books (including the audiobooks) to anyone looking for a gritty, urban fantasy with fast pacing, a wholly original take on “superpowers,” and absolutely unforgettable characters.
This was an absolutely explosive, phenomenal conclusion to an explosive, phenomenal trilogy! I am not usually one for antiheroes, but wow did these broken, angry, lovable characters worm their way into my heart. Without giving too much away, I had a feeling that a certain event was going to take place in this book, and it did, but she STILL managed to surprise me with how it happened, which was a delight. And the ending was PERFECT I tell you, PERFECT!!!
It also never ceases to amaze how Schwab is able to remain so herself and yet also adapt her authorial voice to suit each of her books/series. Having read them all in a row, I can promise you that Victorious sounds and feels JUST like Vicious.
To the longtime fans: You are in for such a treat. And to the new ones: I can’t wait for you to read this!!
