My review
This is a decade-late review of the middle book of a trilogy that will be published in a few short weeks, so I’ll keep this short.
I had a great time with Vicious, and the same was true for Vengeful. VE Schwab is the queen of juggling POVs and timelines, and this book was structured like a ticking time bomb in the best way. I’m not usually a big fan of antiheroes, and I do think Victor tipped a little further than I would have liked into that anti- part of the word in this book, but I’m still rooting HARD for him and his little found family (and I will punch anyone who comes for that dog again omg!!). I also loveddd that we got some bad b*tches in this installment; Marcella was an absolutely delicious villain, and I can’t wait to get even more of June’s backstory.
I do think, 10 years later and having read (almost) all of Schwab’s other books, the scope of this series feels a bit smaller than her usual in a certain way. I am very, VERY excited to see what present-day Victoria has cooked up for Victor and Eli and the gang in Victorious (THAT TITLE!) next month!
