My Review
Several years ago, I asked people on Instagram to tell me which book most changed the way they see the world. More than half of them said Braiding Sweetgrass. That was the beginning of my journey with Robin Wall Kimmerer (who happens to live only a few miles from me!), but I’m so glad it wasn’t the end.
In The Serviceberry, RWK gives us a good refresher on some of her big ideas from Braiding Sweetgrass (always welcome, tbh), then dives into a rumination on the economic possibilities of reciprocity. She looks for examples of serviceberry economies in the real world and dreams about what the future could look like if we adopted more of this.
All in all, a lovely little book that will scratch the itch anytime I want to reread Braiding Sweetgrass but don’t have the time. This would make a great holiday gift for the RWK fan in your life!
