My review
Given the timing of when I'm reading this, I obviously picked up Game Changer because of all the hype around Heated Rivalry. I'm nothing if not a fangirl, so I had to jump on the train.
This book is plenty of fun, but it's very obvious that it was the first one she wrote. I often found myself distracted by the prose and the dialogue in particular, but, like I said, I had a lot of fun, so I didn't really mind that much. (I also already read Heated Rivalry by the time I wrote this review and can assure you that the writing is so, so much better.) In many ways, it feels like this was the cliche hockey romance story that she always wanted to write. From what I know of the rest of the books, once she got this out of her system, they became much more nuanced and had much more interesting plots.
Anyway, it's starting to sound like I strongly disliked this book, which is not true! I just want to reassure anyone who is starting this series for the first time that you should take this early book for what it is: just a plain fun time.
