My review
If you are not yet on the C.L. Clark train, what on earth are you waiting for??
Fate’s Bane was everything I wanted it to be — lyrical, tragic, rich, sapphic, and under 200 pages. The perfect novella-length story of starcrossed lovers. Juliet and Juliet vibes, with magical springs and vengeful workings and warring clans and an ending that somehow does everything and more.
Clark’s choice of voice here is perfect. It rings with the depth of legend and the best of oral storytelling. I was happy to sink in and let her sweep me away as I finished this book in just two sittings. I only wish there was an audiobook, because I could see the right narrator making big-time magic with it!
